Donations

The website includes a facility for Donations, the amount at the donor's discretion, using a debit or credit card.   All donations, which help to develop and sustain the museum, will be most gratefully received.

Displays

The Historylinks Trust aims to make presentation and interpretation as clear as possible. Much of the display is a graphic interpretation of the story of Dornoch. This is supplemented by 3 films as well as the usual display cases.

There are hearing loops in the reception and video display area.

Text (font, size and contrast) is always designed and positioned wherever possible along NMS guidelines for maximum intellectual access

Translations

Translations of the core exhibits are now available in French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Gaelic and will be extended as opportunities arise.

Physical access

There are no restrictions to physical access. The museum is all on one level.

Access to information and archive

The museum has a reference area and also offers public access to our website and on-line Image Library with an image and basic catalogue details of all objects in the museum collection.

The museum will try and help with all enquiries.

By prior request items* from the collection can be examined at Historylinks at a mutually agreed time and date. A minimum of 5 days notice is normally required.

* Historylinks reserves the right to refuse a request if it considers the item to be particularly fragile or of a sensitive nature.

Parties larger than 12

Please contact us beforehand if your party is bigger than 12. For parties of 10 or more the museum will favourably consider requests to open out of normal opening hours by arrangement.

Toilets

There are male and female toilets with nappy changing facilities.
